Luxembourg government to hand out money to buy household appliances
From 2025, a new electricity tariff structure will come into force in Luxembourg. For households with conventional appliances, the changes will be minimal, as they rarely use appliances at maximum power. The final tariff parameters will be published by the Luxembourg Institute of Regulation (ILR) shortly.
The Government is emphasising the protection of vulnerable groups, especially in the context of the gradual lifting of the energy price freeze:
- The cost-of-living allowance will increase by 10 per cent.
- The energy premium will be tripled: up to €750 - €1,050 depending on income level.
- A single parent with a child will receive 3022 euros of aid in 2025 (+707 euros compared to 2024).
- A family of two adults and two children - €4,232 (+€991).
The state has also increased the coverage of the cost of energy efficient appliances to 90 per cent (previously 75 per cent) with a limit of €1000 per appliance. These subsidies apply to refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers, tumble dryers and freezers. The assistance now covers not only the replacement of old appliances, but also the first purchase for low-income families.
The programmes are implemented in cooperation with Klima-Agence and social services.
