Luxembourg's record-breaking: how the Post is boosting its performance
POST Luxembourg is undergoing a major transformation: the growth in parcel volumes requires optimising processes and modernising its infrastructure. In the face of a sharp decline in letter mail, the company is focusing on developing its parcel service, which is becoming an important element of its strategy.
During the period of holiday sales and preparation for New Year celebrations, POST sorting centres face maximum load. The key days are Black Friday, Cyber Monday and St. Nicholas Day. The number of parcels processed on these dates is higher than usual. On 28 November 2024, for example, employees broke a record by processing 55,000 parcels in a day, well above last year's 44,000.
The season has picked up earlier than usual, with volumes already rising since the beginning of November, demonstrating changing consumer habits and the popularity of online shopping.
The Bettambourg sorting centre operates on a 24/6 basis and its 200-strong team handles an average of 50,000 parcels daily during the peak season. To meet these challenges, POST plans to restructure its sorting processes and invest in the development of its service.
