The LuxFilmFest film festival is taking place for the 14th time in the Grand Duchy. This year's festival opens on February 29 and runs until March 10. The organizers note that this time the program is dominated by female directors.

To select the best candidates, the festival's experts watched more than 800 films. The program includes 123 of the best, and a total of 233 screenings are planned during the festival. Minister of Culture Eric Thill noted that most of the 14 films in competition this year were made by women.

In addition, Luxembourg actress Vicky Krieps has joined the jury of this year's festival, and French director Gaspar Noé will participate in one of the Forum's master classes.

The festival will open with Nora Fingscheidt's The Outrun, which premiered at Sundance on January 19. The film was a sensation there and will also be screened at this year's Berlin Film Festival. Based on the novel of the same name by Amy Liptrot, the film tells the story of Rona (played by Saoirse Ronan), who returns home to Scotland after a long rehabilitation. The wildlife and familiar landscapes remind her of her childhood and carefree days. But now, in her soul, all of this is mixed with the pain and trauma she has recently experienced.

Viggo Mortensen's The Dead Don't Hurt, starring Vicky Krieps, will also screen at the festival, while "Love Lies Bleeding" with Kristen Stewart will be shown at the closing ceremony.
