Mobile internet and communications are widely available in Luxembourg. Local and European mobile operators offer to connect subscribers to their network.

What to pay attention to when choosing a plan

In order to use your SIM card as efficiently and profitably as possible, you need to determine what basic features you will need.

What do you use more: internet or calls and texts

If internet, how important is it for you to communicate via messengers – WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber. Or maybe you have a preferred social media you spend hours on? This will help you to make a more informed choice of plan.

How often do you travel around the Eurozone

If your work and life is centred in Luxembourg, it's worth looking at unlimited plans within the country. They usually have a good price and a large internet limit. But! Such offers may not work outside the country. Therefore, if you will be constantly travelling to Benelux or neighbouring countries, you should take a tariff that allows you to make calls and access the internet outside the country.

Is there really no roaming

EU roaming charges were officially abolished in 2017. However, it is worth checking with your provider to see if roaming is indeed free throughout the EU without any conditions.

Whether you have an internet or cable TV connection

If you have a telecoms provider at home (POST Luxembourg, LUXGSM, Tango, Orange, etc.), you might want to consider buying a package. It is worth studying the terms and conditions on the provider's official website or in one of the stores.

What is the best way to pay

There are many ways to pay: monthly, yearly, for the data used. Also, consider, if you want to pay with card automatically, or not. Some options offer you discounts.

What kind of coverage is best in your area

The coverage in Gutland is better than in Aisling. In the north, however, you can connect to the German or Belgian network, but then you need to think about which tariff to choose, so that you don't end up paying much more.

What is the duration of the service contract

Usually it's 12 or 24 months, but there is also a ‘no obligation’ option - you pay month by month depending on how much traffic and minutes you've used up.

What are the conditions for early termination

If you suddenly have to cancel the services of this operator for any reason, what costs you will incur when the contract is cancelled.
Registration required

As long as you are not registered in Luxembourg, you will not be able to sign a mobile phone contract. In the meantime, use prepaid SIM cards.
