Historical overview

Muhlenbach, aptly named after the stream that courses through its heart, has a rich historical tapestry woven around the mills that flourished in its vicinity. In the 13th century, a flour mill marked the inception, while the Jesuits, in the early 18th century, added a paper mill, crafting Luxembourg's inaugural paper.

19th century

During the 19th century, horticulturists found a haven here, capitalizing on the abundant water supply for their crops. The verdant yields were then peddled in the city markets. The quaint Saint-Fiacre church, a testament to the community's spiritual growth, was erected between 1962 and 1963.

Modern times

Muhlenbach's administrative journey saw it transition from Eich's municipality until July 1, 1849, when it merged into the newly formed Rollingergrund municipality. Further changes unfolded on June 1, 1920, when Rollingergrund amalgamated with Luxembourg City, etching Muhlenbach into the evolving narrative of Luxembourg's capital.
