Luxembourg is facing a critical shortage of blood supplies
The shortage is due to recent school holidays and the spread of respiratory infections, which prevented regular donors from donating blood. Stocks, which have been at critical levels for several months, are well below the minimum required.
The Red Cross' goal is to rebuild a stock equivalent to 15 days' worth of needs, which is about 800 blood bags.
Anna Schumacher, Director of the Blood Transfusion Centre, said: "Our stocks are running low, and December usually sees a drop in the number of donors, although demand for blood remains high. Supporting the sick and injured is especially important over the festive period. We encourage everyone who can, to come forward and donate blood."
To become a donor, you need to make an appointment. Your contribution will help stabilise the situation and save lives.
