Qualité+ subsidy: support for Luxembourg sports clubs
In 2024, the Luxembourg Ministry of Sport received 401 applications from sports clubs for the Qualité+ subsidy. This financial support aims to improve training conditions, especially for young people, and is linked to certain quality standards. The main criteria include the availability of qualified coaches, of which 50 per cent must have a minimum qualification of EQF3 level. In addition, all trainers must be certified to deliver the sessions.
Despite the activity of 401 clubs, about 900 of the 1,300 existing organisations in the country have not applied. The reasons for this have not been studied as the Ministry of Sport does not have the relevant data. This may be due to bureaucratic difficulties, insufficient information or non-compliance with requirements.
Out of 401 applications, 44 were rejected. The main reasons were the failure to fulfil key conditions: lack of qualified coaches or the use of unqualified specialists to work with young people.
Bids were received from clubs representing various federations including football (89 clubs), table tennis (50 clubs), tennis (33 clubs) and basketball (29 clubs). Other federations such as gymnastics, athletics and swimming also actively participated, albeit on a smaller scale.
