In Luxembourg, the start of the 2024 tax filing campaign has been delayed: Form 100 on the MyGuichet.lu portal has been temporarily deleted due to a technical error. As explained by the tax office, the form was first published on 7 April, but a glitch in the calculation of some fields of the PDF document was soon detected.

The error was corrected and the form was re-run the very next day, 8 April. Despite internal checks, the problem passed control and resulted in 92 taxpayers sending their declarations with an incorrectly working version of the form.

The head of the tax administration, Jean-Paul Olinger, has assured that there will be no consequences for any of the users: all such declarations will be individually checked and erroneous calculations will not affect taxpayers.

In parallel, the tax administration is actively promoting a new electronic assistant 123easy, which simplifies the process of filling out declarations. As of mid-April, about 2,000 people have already used this system, which, in the absence of clarifying questions, allows you to get a tax decision within two weeks.

The government expects up to 85 per cent of all returns to be filed through the platform by tax year 2028, which should significantly reduce the burden and delays.

Nevertheless, the innovation was accompanied by a two-month delay in the launch of the declaration campaign. Unlike the usual February, Form 100 appeared in April - by decision of the tax administration itself. This shift caused dissatisfaction among accountants and fiduciaries, who complained about the loss of part of their income and short deadlines for working with clients.
