On Wednesday morning, a gruesome discovery was made on the farm track "Am Quäkebësch", near the Solupla industrial area in the municipality of Redange/Attert: a dead sheep wrapped in a white plastic bag. Local authorities speculate that the animal was left overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday, as the condition of the corpse indicates a recent death.

According to the municipal administration, the sheep had no visible wounds and probably died of old age or disease. Despite the lack of traces pointing to the culprit, the authorities filed a police report against an unidentified person.

It should be noted that this is not the first case of this kind. Local officials said that the bodies of sheep and rams had been found on the same plot of land many times before. It is unclear whether this is due to the farmers' negligence, unwillingness to pay for the disposal of dead animals, or to the intentional actions of intruders.

The disposal of animals is subject to strict sanitary regulations. According to EU law, animal corpses must be handed over to specialised services to avoid environmental pollution and the spread of disease. Violation of these regulations can result in serious fines, as such actions not only endanger the environment, but can also cause anxiety among local residents.

The investigation is ongoing and the administration is calling on residents to co-operate to identify those behind the violations. The question remains: is this an accident or a recurrence of a hidden problem?
