After a noticeable drop in the price of sans plomb 95 petrol on Tuesday - by 6.8 euro cents per litre - the turn has now come to 98 petrol. From Wednesday, 9 April, it will cost 1.552 euros per litre, i.e. 4.2 euro cents less. This is one of the most noticeable adjustments in recent weeks.

Thus, the retail prices of the main fuels in Luxembourg would be as follows:

  • Essence 95: €1.459/litre - no change;
  • Essence 98: €1.552/litre - minus 4.2 euro cents;
  • Diesel: 1.403 euro/litre - also unchanged.

The reasons for the decline are global. In particular, the drop in oil prices is partly explained by the introduction of new tariffs on energy imports by US President Donald Trump, which caused volatility in the global oil market. However, despite the general decline in commodity prices, diesel has so far remained aloof from the price dynamics.

Experts note that the cost of diesel may react with a delay, especially given the more complex logistics and refining. But at current price levels, Luxembourg is still one of the countries with the most affordable retail fuel tariffs in Western Europe.
