Travelling from Luxembourg to China will be easier, but not for everyone
Since 30 November 2024, China has granted Luxembourg citizens visa-free entry for up to 30 days, extending this right until 31 December 2025. This is not just a convenience for tourists and business travellers, but also an important gesture in strengthening bilateral relations. The previous limit of 15 days has been doubled, demonstrating China's openness to expanding its engagement with Europe.
The Air Silk Road project was a key element of the new phase of co-operation. Regular passenger flights between Luxembourg and Chinese cities, the increase in Cargolux cargo flights and the opening of the Nanjing-Luxembourg route by China Postal Airlines are not just logistical achievements. These initiatives serve as "bridges" that strengthen economic, cultural and personal ties between the countries.
The initiative to develop relations is backed by an official visit by a Luxembourg delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Xavier Bettel and Economy Minister Lex Delles. The programme includes meetings with Chinese leaders, a business forum and visits to enterprises, which should stimulate new investment projects and business ties.
With the opening of seven new visa centres in China, Luxembourg and China are confirming their interest in facilitating mutual travel. Such steps are aimed not only at promoting tourism, but also at expanding opportunities for educational and business exchanges.
Thanks to growing economic and cultural ties, both sides are benefiting from a new level of co-operation. Luxembourg remains an important partner for China, and the initiative to extend the visa-free period is evidence of growing mutual trust.
