Over 80% of Luxembourg graduates find a job

In 2023, 83.5% of recent graduates in the EU were in employment, an increase of 1.1% compared to 2022 (82.4%). Recent graduates are defined as persons aged 20-34 who have completed secondary or tertiary education within the last 1-3 years.

The employment rate of recent graduates has increased over the last 10 years. In 2013, the rate was 74.3% and has increased steadily since then. The exception was in 2020, when the employment rate dropped to 78.7% due to the pandemic, a decrease of 2.3% from 2019 (81.0%).

In 2023, there was a 9.6 percentage point difference between the employment rates of graduates with tertiary education (87.7%) and those with only high school education (78.1%). Malta had the highest employment rate for tertiary graduates (95.8%), followed by the Netherlands (93.2%) and Germany (91.5%). The lowest rates were found in Italy (67.5%), Greece (72.3%) and Romania (74.8%).
