From 20 to 26 January, the Luxembourg police conducted the "GUTT GESINN" campaign aimed at monitoring the condition of vehicles. Particular attention was paid to lighting, driver visibility and licence plates, as well as to checking vehicle documents.

During the week, police officers issued 476 fines, of which:

  • 134 for unreadable licence plates,
  • 85 - for faulty lighting (headlights, brake lights),
  • 9 for visibility problems (dirty windows, wrong windscreens).

Major documentary irregularities

  • 37 drivers were unable to produce a valid driving licence,
  • 35 vehicles did not have a valid insurance policy,
  • 60+ cars did not have a tax vignette affixed,
  • 102 cars did not pass the mandatory technical inspection.

The results of the campaign show that many drivers neglect the technical condition of their vehicles and documents. The Luxembourg police regularly carry out such checks to improve road safety and reduce the number of accidents caused by defective vehicles.
